OVERVIEW

— Climb the historic mountain fortress with 700 years of history and step into a space only available in the early morning —

Start your day with a special breakfast atop the quiet mountaintop ruins of Tsuwano Castle.
“Asageshiki,” a coined term combining “asage” (morning meal) and “keshiki” (scenery), represents this unique experience.
This original breakfast, made with plenty of locally sourced ingredients from Tsuwano, tastes even better when enjoyed at the summit.
Take your time to refresh yourself through a peaceful trek in nature.
While overlooking the tranquil town of Tsuwano, treat yourself to the perfect start to your day.

  • "I want to have breakfast here!" — This desire gave birth to a one-of-a-kind location

While exploring Tsuwano to develop new experiences that showcase its charm, we came across the ruins of Tsuwano Castle. Upon seeing the view, we felt, “How amazing would it be to start the day with breakfast here!”

That feeling became the inspiration for this tour.

We believe it’s important that the people organizing the experience are genuinely passionate about it.

From the moment we saw the panoramic view of the beautiful, seasonal town of Tsuwano from the castle ruins, we knew we had to create this plan.

  • A deeper story through the Asageshiki brand

“Asageshiki,” the name of this tour, is a tourism brand utilizing beautiful early-morning landscapes and is also offered in places like Hiroshima City and Asuka Village in Nara.

Loved by both domestic and international visitors, participation has been increasing every year.

The secret to its popularity lies in its emphasis on local stories and themes.

In Tsuwano, participants learn about the relationship between the Tsuwano Castle ruins and Taikodani Inari Shrine, experience a unique style of worship, discover why the castle keep no longer stands, and more. This sensory-rich guided tour brings the scenery to life through storytelling and exploration.

  • A full experience of nature, culture, history — and food

As a castle town, the Tsuwano Castle ruins are the heart of Tsuwano.

This area is rich in history, culture, and nature unique to mountain castles.

Our guide, who lives in the region, shares firsthand knowledge of the local environment.

And since this special location deserves a special meal, we collaborated with the local food-focused group Taberu-wo to create a regional breakfast featuring “Uzume-meshi,” a traditional dish made with local ingredients.

This tour was created with the hope of offering a journey full of diverse elements along a single route.
